Litigator Thomas Welschen to Penrose
As of 1 September 2023, Penrose welcomes litigator Thomas Welschen as a partner to our firm. Over the years, Thomas has specialized in the resolution of corporate and commercial disputes. Thomas advises and litigates in areas such as shareholder conflicts, directors’ and officers’ liability and disputes about the interpretation of commercial contracts.
Thomas read Dutch law at the University of Amsterdam. He then went to work at a medium-sized law firm in The Hague for a broad legal development gaining a lot of litigation experience. He continued his career with the corporate & commercial litigation section of Fort Attorneys in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. After leaving there at the end of 2022, Thomas worked as an independent trial lawyer for some time before joining Penrose as a partner. In 2015, Thomas successfully completed the prestigious Grotius specialization course in Company and Business Law.
With the arrival of Thomas Welschen, Amsterdam based cooperative law firm Penrose is expanding its litigation practice with a highly experienced litigator.
Penrose employs a cooperative model in which lawyers pool their practices and collaborate as equal partners. They share work, resources, costs, and profits while maintaining individual specializations. This fosters a collective approach to cases, resulting in a diverse range of expertise that enhances more effective client service.
