Martijn is an IT lawyer who, in addition to his legal expertise, has over 15 years of experience as a project manager for large and complex IT projects.
Martijn is an IT lawyer who, in addition to his legal expertise, has more than 15 years of experience as a project manager of large and complex IT projects. Martijn has a unique combination of legal and technical knowledge, making him exceptionally well-suited to assist clients in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating complex IT agreements and licensing structures, advising on (European) ‘tech’ legislation such as DORA and the AI Act, and preventing and resolving IT-related disputes. Martijn has worked for a wide range of clients ranging from programmers, (technology) scale-ups to large financial service providers.
Martijn focuses on the essential aspects of a case. He is known for his pragmatic and comprehensible advice and his ability to achieve sustainable solutions. With his technical, business and legal background, he quickly grasps the essence of a case and understands the interests of all parties involved.
Martijn graduated cum laude from the VIRA/Grotius postgraduate specialization in IT law. He has been the chairman of the Examination Appeals Board at Leiden University since 2021. Previously, Martijn was a member of the Amsterdam Data Protection Commission (CPA) and an external clerk at the Amsterdam District Court. Martijn publishes on a regular basis in legal journals and has a regular column in AG Connect (formerly Automatiseringsgids). In 2023, Martijn published the collection of case law on IT law at Ars Aequi.
